UPM hosts the University of Malaysia Staff Sports Tournament (SUKUM)

SERDANG, 25 September – SUKUM was held for eight days with UPM as the host. The 44th Malaysian Inter-University Staff Sports Tournament (SUKUM 2022) has been held lively at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from 17 to 24 September 2022.

More interestingly, UPM also won the overall champion of the Staff Games at the 44th edition of this event. The championship was won because the UPM contingent became the overall champion of the 2022 Universiti Malaysia (SUKUM) Staff Sports Championship with a collection of 18 gold, 19 silver and 15 bronze medals. The presence of athletes from the staff of other institutions launched the journey of the tournament where second place was held by Universiti Malaysia Perlis with a collection of 17 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals.

The UPM Residential College has helped a lot in organizing the 2022 University of Malaysia Inter-Staff Games (SUKUM) for the accommodation of volunteers and contingents from all Malaysian universities. It has also been able to save costs for renting or acquiring systems from outside parties. College Dua Belas receives contingent accommodation from UNIMAP and UMP as well as 350 volunteers.

This is the first time that UPM has been crowned as the overall champion for Staff Sports and YH. The Vice Chancellor of UPM expressed his appreciation and congratulations to the staff athletes who worked hard to ensure that success this time belongs to UPM.

According to him, SUKUM is a vehicle for bridging family ties between institutions of higher education and can cultivate a healthy lifestyle among staff and students of institutions of higher education. This is a healthy lifestyle culture that should be practiced by all levels.

Congratulations to Puan Nor Hasuzie binti Abdullatif from UPM Twelve College who participated in the badminton event up to the quarter-final stage held at Uptown Sports, Bandar Baru Bangi on 18 September 2022 UPM.

Through sports events such as SUKUM, which are held every two years, can further improve the mental and physical resilience of human resources in addition to improving the well-being index among staff. The increase in this index is able to provide 'peace of mind' and encourage staff to work more productively. At the same time, this organization coincides with the image of the 5th Goal, UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025 which is to strengthen the governance and governance of resources.

Well done!
